Waiting for a Hero is Just an Excuse for Doing Nothing

Mangrove trees that live by the sea are astoundingly important to coasts around the world. They serve as nurseries for countless marine species, protect communities from storms and floods, and filter water for reefs and seagrass. But unfortunately they are dying faster than we realize.

If we lose mangroves forever, wildlife everywhere will be negatively impacted and a devastating amount of carbon will be released into the atmosphere. The good news is that there is still time to protect these trees, but only if we act now.

I believe that waiting for another person to solve the world’s problems is just an excuse for doing nothing. In order for anything to get better, we need to start improving things instead of wishing that someone will do it all for us.

So the next time you find yourself thinking that a hero is going to fix everything, remember that it will happen much faster if you take action. If you know that something isn’t as good as it could be, don’t stall or hold up for someone else. Take your own steps to make a change.
